Rev. Joe Elliott, Church Planter

Joe and his family moved to Tallahassee in December, 2003 to work at CenterPoint Church PCA. In his capacity as an Assistant Minister, he led prayer movements, spearheaded the Tallahassee College Outreach (TCO) ministry at Florida A & M University and currently serves on the Campus Ministry Board at FAMU.  He also led community groups, coordinated mercy ministry efforts through CPR Tallahassee, Inc. which is now known as Builder’s Care, assisted in training church members in discovering and using their spiritual gifts, and pioneered CARE Tallahassee, Inc., (Capital Aftercare Regenerated Ex-offenders) a ministry for Christian ex-offenders.

Joe was introduced to Christ in his 20s, and his life dramatically changed as a result. Having had several incidences with the law, one of which resulted in incarceration…Joe was compelled to work with others in prison where he, another inmate, and a prison chaplain, founded “Inside Ministries.”  They traveled throughout the State of Mississippi during the 1980′s sharing the Gospel to youth in schools, civic groups, and churches. Joe and his prison ministry colleagues were featured in Prison Fellowship’s Inside/Out periodical in January of 1987.

In 1988, Joe married his wife, Beverlyn.  He received his B. A. in religion from Belhaven College.  During this period, he began a long-time association with a prison aftercare program, Beginning Again in Christ, Inc., an organization which he would eventually lead as Executive Director.

Joe was ordained into the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) in Oct. 2006 and is currently pastor and church planter of the Door of Hope Church, PCA on the southside of Tallahassee, FL.  Joe is also working on the completion of his Masters in Theology (MTA) at Reformed Theological Seminary.

He and Beverlyn have three children: Brittany, Jeremiah and Joshua.
